In my teens and early twenties, I couldn’t help but notice the lack of women’s representation in positions of power. Whether it was leadership in politics, the pulpit, protests, or the public square, I always found myself asking, “Where are all the women?” Fast forward to seminary, my ordination, my PhD program, and even the beginnings of my work as a professional artist and author. I kept asking, “Where are all the women?” This time, I also began to notice the ways women of color and queer women were particularly excluded. I decided to offer an empowering corrective. Over a decade ago, I began painting and collaging revolutionary women from history, mythology, and today. After painting over 150 revolutionary women as icons, teaching academic courses on the topic, publishing seven books about empowering women through the arts, and leading retreats to hundreds of women, I’m ready to share my limited edition prints with the world!
